MAY GOD BLESS TOM O'REILLY | Thomas J. O'Reilly, 70, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020. Tom dedicated over 45 years of his life to public service. He worked for the State of NJ for 33 years, ending his career as the administrator of the NJ Department of Law and Public Safety, the organization with oversight of State Police, Homeland Security and criminal prosecution. After retiring from the State, Tom joined the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, DC, and was appointed director of the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Report Initiative implementing the "See Something, Say Something" program. Tom was proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed being part of the local Irish community. He proudly served as the 2017 Trenton/Hamilton St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal. He was a member of Division 1 of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, chair of the Famine Education Committee of the Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship Committee, chaired the Trenton and Hamilton Parade Committees, and was a member of the Friendly Sons and Daughters of Mercer County where he was selected as the 2006 Friendly Son. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 9 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, Feb. 2020, at 9:30 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 251 Franklin St., Hightstown, NJ. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hightstown. Please keep Tom's wife, Jane, and his family in your prayers.
